Portreath, Cornwall (1)

17/02/2009

Sue in CornwallToday is our second day staying at Gwel An Mor near Portreath in Cornwall. The accommodation is superb by anyone’s standards. Well recommended.

Yesterday we went to St Ives and did a fastish route march along the coast path to Zennor, then back along the “Coffin Path”. A good walk spoilt by a few really muddy patches. The weather was great though – hard to think we were enjoying the snow just a few days ago!.

Today we went from the lodge to the Tehidy Country park. We explored the paths, left at the far end and returned to Portreath via the coast path. Another good walk and as the picture shows more good weather.

We made it back for a late lunch then I had a quiret afternoon listening to the cricket (England doing quite well) before a quick jaunt down to Portreath early eveining for a pint.

Another Snowy Day in Monmouth

Today I was due to head into my main client’s office in Coventry but with the weather as it was we traded in the journey for a conference call. This meant that there was a bit more flexibility in my day so I took a couple of hours out to head up the Kymin with Sue.

Horses on the Kymin

The day was really good for walking with the snow quite dry, but lower down it was a bit muddy.

We went from home to the top, then over the fields behind where we saw the horses. I like the crisp nature of the image caused by the snow on the tree seeming to be outlined in black.

This route led us to the forest tracks then back left to the way we went up.

A good day – but if anyone from the client is reading this – I did make up the time, honest!
